A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
Enough money within her control to move out and rent a place of her own, even if she never wants to or needs to...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
Something perfect to wear if the employer, or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
A youth she's content to leave behind....
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
A past juicy enough that she's looking forward to retelling it in her old age....
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....
A set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
One friend who always makes her laugh...
and one who lets her cry...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
A good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
Eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a recipe for a meal, that will make her guests feel honored...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
A feeling of control over her destiny...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
How to fall in love without losing herself..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
How to quit a job, break up with a lover, and confront a friend without ruining the friendship...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
When to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
That she can't change the length of her calves, the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that her childhood may not have been perfect...but it's over...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
What she would and wouldn't do for love or more...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
How to live alone... even if she doesn't like it...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
whom she can trust, whom she can't, and why she shouldn't take it personally...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
Where to go...be it to her best friend's kitchen table...or a charming inn in the woods...when her soul needs soothing...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
What she can and can't accomplish in a day...a month...and a year...

I may not completely want to have all of these things, but I am working on that too!

ReplyDeleteHow to fall in love without losing herself..
Please, if you discover how to do that, let me know!
Very interesting list of things to have and know. I'll start working on the things I miss right now.
Good to see you Janet. How was your week so far?
Take care dear.
Kisses on your cheeks!
This is a great post.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
I think this is a good one to pass on to every woman.
ReplyDeleteKenia - I always get deeply lost in love - but I have few regrets about it!
Gena - one for the VGNO!
Beautiful Blog!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!

Thank you Steve.

I love this list...my only thing is the tool list is incomplete. Every woman should also have a set of wrenches, a hammer and a level.
ReplyDeleteJust my two cents. Love it! :)
Another great post. Thanks for sharing it!

Kristin - good call. I have been known to use a butter knife to pound, unscrew and eletrocute myself one too many times!
ReplyDeleteJanet to Janet - thank you.
Janet! Your last response about being electrocuted caught my eye because I have been electrocuted 3 times in my life. And now you, too..? -oo- Is this a Janet "thing" or what, heh heh. My first experience of being electrocuted was when I was very young and stuck a fork in the wall socket. I was blown away several feet. Then, again as a toddler, when I stuck a knife in a toaster while it was operating. Another good jolt. The 3rd (and hopefully, the last) time was as an adult. I was standing between a washer and a dryer; my left hand was on a pile of wet towels I was about to put into the dryer, and I was rinsing my other hand under the running water in the washer. *BLAM* This was a major shock and it took all my strength to break the circuit. Apparently both washer and dryer were not grounded. My friend who was visiting me at the time said my hair really did look frazzled and I had that "deer-in-the-headlights" look about me. From there on in I developed Legionnaire's disease, had a serious auto accident, was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and a number of other odd ailments. I feel compelled to ask if you've had any adverse affects from your shocks..
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for stopping by my blog and for your very kind comment. I feel I ought to tell you that my blog has all my poems posted to the front main page. As time allows, I put them under their separate categories, the tabs you see at the top of my blog, one of which you entered, Hyacinth Bouquet, which shows only a small number of my pieces/work. I hope you'll come back and read some of my most recent poems on the main blog page.
I think you have a great blog here, so I'll be returning as time permits. BTW, I'm a cyberfriend of the immensely talented Just Paisley (Jodi). See you again soon.
Wishing you a perfect day,
Janet Leigh
My dear Janet Leigh,
ReplyDeleteI'm 'shocked' by all of this. I have to say that my 'little' electricity incident does not even come close to any of your unforgettable ones.
I do not think I suffer any long term effects, although some people say that I can light up a room!
I am having a perfect day - thank you.
